PEA sale

on sunday, there was a lil food fare where the eurasians are given the chance to sell their food to earn a lil extra pocket money... so mum took the chance... she made plans for this a month earlier, doing her research on what food to sell, the prices and of course how much would her untung be! hahaha... at least she's keeping herself busy by doing things she likes...

mum took up about 4 tables for her lil stall where by the other ladies just took up 2 tables... they didn't really brought much to sell, i guess they were just "testing" the waters and were too scared to take the risk to sell and maybe have a loss... well it IS known that eurasians are not good businessmen.. hahahah.. i may be wrong.. (don't hate me)

so mum got someone to cook devils curry with rice and veg, got some friend beehoon, she made rojak, some indian vadek and tried selling her salt fish prada (using Aunty Bah's portugese recipie) and green chilly pickle... we were there early to set the tables and arrange the food and the ppl started to come in by 10am (after morning mass)....

all went well especially the Devil's curry and beehoon, though the rojak didn't do well as the fruits were getting all watery... mum managed to sell half of her pickle bottles... so hope ppl will taste it and would want to order more from her... it's nice i tell u....

there were others selling cakes and tarts and puffs... which were lovely too... we had a reporter from the News Straits Times taking pics of the food (i think i took better pics! heheh) and interviewed the VP of the PEA... we're just wondering which issue would mum's face appear.. hahahha... check it out!

bad bad bad

yesterday was worst that that friday where i slept at the side of the road in the car cause of bad traffic jam!!

after work, i was to be out with some friends to meet up for some dinner, so a friend of mine followed me from work, it took us 3 hrs! to get to town! the traffic was horrible! there was some trailers having accidents (though the link said it was cleared by 3.45pm the traffic was still there till i finished work at 5pm and onwards!! makes no difference man!) on the penang bridge.. and... it's the school holidays.. and it's a friday evening.. so EVERYONE wants to get out from penang.. thus.. TRAFFIC JAM!

this time i couldn't stop at the side of the road and sleep cause i had a friend with me.... so had to crawl in the traffic for 3 hrs... by the time we reached to town, we were dead tired! so after hanging out it was 11+pm and i'm thinking good, sure no jam at this hour! heck i was soooo wrong! when i reached Tesco, the jam started from there till the bridge which means another 2 to 3 hrs in the jam!! and since i'm working the next day (at 6am mind you) i decided to spend the night at LeNid....

felt so bad waking Anna up at midnite but i'm thankful that she was around to let me in.. if not, i'll have to sleep at work.... sigh....

and now, i just found out that at 7 something yesterday there was another accident/breakdown on the bridge which cause the traffic till 11 something when i found out.. sigh....

the tree at LeNid

stormy stormy night

it's been raining for the past nearly 2 weeks in the evening/night with thunderstorms and lightning and wind... places are in floods and things have been flying around....

here in LeNid (greenlane) the ciku tree has fallen.... that was what i was told by Anna.... it fell across the porch and if she wanted to go to the gate, she must bend down and go underneath the tree OR walk around the tree near the doghouse to get to the gate.... luckily it seemed it didn't hit the window of the dining room which is good and it was resting on the fence of the water tap in the garden

so i was abit excited.. wanted to get a pic of this fallen tree... soooo.... i went there after work to get some pics and what did i SEE???? it was just a BRANCH of the tree that fell.... the MAIN tree is still standing!! hahaha see how descriptions can cause? hahahahah... the branch that fell was as big as an arm.... long branch that fell across the porch.... though by the time i went there Anna had already cleared the leaves and twigs... just left the main on for my dad to saw/cut it....

ahahah after taking some pics, i took Anna out for banana leaf dinner.. i'm sure it's been a while since she had that ... and me too!! haven't been there for quite some time....

so... the episode of the ciku tree... hmmm i forgot to ask Anna if there were any edible ciku to eat... i'm sort of craving for ciku when i came back from KL... dunno why.... NO! i'm not pregnant! i'm having my period now... :P

it's done

i've decided, i'm going to KL to work.. omg.. that didn't sound nice at all.. hahahah... but yea.. my chance has come.. and i'm taking it, don't want to wait, don't want to have regrets. just hope that it turns out ok and that i CAN do the job....

the interview went well, i actually got the job, but with just an average pay.... but i'm sure i'll gain alot of experience compared to where i am now... so, i can't do anything (resign, move out) yet cause i haven't gotten the offer letter stating in detail of the job and it's T&C.

the guy were supposed to email me the documents, me print it out, sign it and fax it back to them... but up till the phone interview on wed, i haven't gotten the papers.... sigh... (wonder if they changed their minds?)

train ride...

finally some pics on this blog.... so because of the delay, i took some pics but didn't want to take so many cause i was on normal battries.. my re-chargeable ones are getting old, and it has it's own mood, to work or not to work, that is the question...

so anyway, here's some for when the train were coming in to "fetch" us....

4th time!

sigh.... and i thought that phone call from the manager would be "the one" to know if i got the job or not.... looks like it's not.... he said that my customer service was good and he liked it but unfortunately, i lack of technical skills.. so he gave me "homework" to do... gave me some topics to "learn".. more of like research and today (wed) he'll call again to test me... sigh....

it's like back to college days, had to find for my old notes, books and back to researching on the net. i did manage to find the info he wanted but am not sure if that is what he wants... he'll be calling today after work to "test" me..

i'm just kinda tired that it takes so long, if i'm good enough, good but if i'm not, just say it, why put ppl at the edge? but what's really sad is that they're giving me 2k ONLY!... and after paying EPF, it leaves 1700... so how am i to survive in KL with that money? i need to rent a place, travel, food (limited rice and gravy type of food), toilteries and all the hoo haa.. where enough!!!

having a big headache...

one of my manager said not to take if they give u 2K. some of my close friends asked me, you want MONEY or EXPERIENCE? of course i want experience.... but how to survive with that much, no savings, no extra for emergencies, can't pay insurance... here in penang, though my job is considered stagnant and it's "nothing" i'm saving HALF of my pay.... HALF!!! can u beat that? i think in KL, with 1700.. i'll be OWING ppl... can't even save 10 bucks... what future would i have? a future with no savings...

so i'm in a delima... it'll be easier if i was told i didn't get the job.... sigh...

the countdown begins

i had the second call today, at work... and the "manager" wanted to have the phone interview then and there... i told him i couldn't do the interview at that moment, but will be free at 5pm. so now, i'm counting down till 5pm...

am so scared now.... the guy sounded nice though, but then again, he's the manager... so...

aaaahhhhh!!!

shouldn't have come

at the interview, it went ok, though i was just average on the test for the position i applied for but the guy said he'll help me out for another dept, it was fine with me... as long it's a job there... anyway, i don't know what position was this guy in but he wasn't the one interviewing me... they have to review my tests and resume again for a 2nd interview...

he found out that i was from penang and was surprised that i came all the way to take the test, he said, should have done it over the phone... but after taking the test, it will be very hard to take the test over the phone.. it had comprehension and calculation questions, how la to do this over the phone?

so, for now, just have to wait and see if they'll call back on monday or tuesday for the 2nd phone interview...

the train ride

the train (Langkawi Express - the name of the train) was to arrive at 9.30pm but there was an announcement... 1130!!!!! the bloody train will only come at 11.30!!! omg.. this is so not good and it will take bout 9 hrs to reach, and my appointment is at 10.30!!! *panic*

but then, what to do, have to wait la...

11.30 it arrived, dad got to speak to some official and asked about the delay, it seems the train came from thailand - Hatyai and on the way to Butterworth, the tracks were new and it seems when it's new, they can't "speed" that's why the delay... sigh...

dad got excited, first time in this "1st class" berth.... he was looking around, checking things out... he took the top bunk bed.. hahahahah.... he wanted to go to the "food" coach to get our "complimentary refreshments"... KTM.. 1 st class... u think it'll be the same as flying 1st class in MAS? .... NOT!!... so giving them reasonable doubt, it would be packet drink and nasi lemak... BUT in the end.... all we had was a bottle of mineral water (which is good) and NO nasi lemak, instead.... one small (nice looking) cup cake... sigh....

air con was cold..... had to adjust the air-con... and luckily i could sleep... maybe i was too tired (i did work just before leaving) ... the area that i slept in, was a bit small though, if u want to turn, u got to move abit so that u can turn on the same area.... could sleep, not that rocky and noisy... 1st class ma...! there was a lil table and chair and also a small sink.. which is good... cause at least u can wipe yourself cause there's no place for a bath... too cold to bathe also la anyway, can brush teeth, wash face.... but don't get me started on the toilets, they HAD paper (which was surprising, i brought my own just in case and they also had a water pipe)... but it was still a typical malaysian toilet... if u know what i mean.... luckily we reached KL Sentral at 9am..

we got 1st class!

hahah my dad, now since he's a pensioner, he's really making use of it. ever since he got a pensioners card, he's been trying his best to find cheaper prices, be it for movies, or at toll gates, or for travelling. and now it did work!

so for my train trip, my dad managed to get 1st class sleeping berth for two! and it comes with "refreshments" with a waiter! hahahah ... it seems, the original price for normal ppl would be RM162 but because of my dad's wonder card, he only paid RM62! not for each but for both of us, for the berth actually. so for RM162, i wondered will be as grand as the price? or will it be a let down? knowing it's a local KTM train.

train will leave at 9+pm something. am actually excited but nervous as well, what if i didn't get through the test? it'll be such a waste of time and well, my hopes to go to KL will dissapear... oh well, i'll go with what i have and just make the best of it....

gosh will be DEAD tired when i get home and get to work on sunday..... O_O

at a lil cafe

mum was helping someone out at a lil cafe type restaurant in the Bukit Mertajam Country Club... when i saw was means, she used to.. it seems....

she used to go everyday from 6 to 10pm cause there were more business for dinner and yet, it didn't do so well too. so the boss told my mum that she can come to help her (the boss) during the weekends and during functions like for 30+ ppl. so that was going well, until recently i was told that my mum will not have to go to help the boss cause the business was bad and the boss has no $$ to pay mum (even though the boss is a rich single-with-lots-of-dogs-in-the-house lay).

so looks like mum is stuck at home again... well it's good, at least i'll see her when i come back from work! :)

Hello there!

so i'm due for the test cum interview on saturday. am really scared. not scared about if i get it or not, i'm actually scared if i GET IT, cause if i do, i got to MOVE to KL...!!!

i know i've been wanting to go to KL since i left school but i'm so used to do everything here in penang that i may be TOO comfortable here... but anyway, i'll have to wait and see if i actually passed the test and see what they have to offer me.

staying in KL is abit more expensive than in penang and i can't save as much.... sigh...
